- This series is a collection of Osho's discourses on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, given over the course of several years. Patanjali's sutras, a classic of Indian spiritual lore for millennia, are now masterfully illuminated in a contemporary way.
- In his previous long-running series of talks in English, The Book of the Secrets / Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, ended just a month before the Yoga series started, Osho had expounded on the value of "let-go", non-control and spontaneity, over what he characterized as yoga's focus on effort. Here, celebrating the strengths of Patanjali's approach, it is not effort but science.
- He says that "all the techniques of Yoga have really one focus: how to use the mind. Rightly used it becomes no-mind and you are absolutely silent; wrongly, it becomes so divided you go insane. Through the sutras of Patanjali, Osho leads the reader step by step toward an understanding of the mind - that it is not something different from the body, and how to use it as an instrument".
- Yoga was first published in English as a series of ten volumes of ten chapters each, then republished under other names (see Yoga: The Alpha and the Omega (series). Here are books, which are the translation of English series, with indication of original discourses.
