Testimonial letter from Eileen Meredith
This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. FISHER MEREDITH & PARTNERS TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN I hold a Degree of Bachelor of Arts (Natural Sciences) from the University of Cambridge and am a practising Solicitor of the Supreme Court in England and Wales. I confirm that I have heard of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh over many years, through his books, discourses and Disciples, and indeed several of my friends and colleagues have subscribed to his teachings and become neo-Sanyassins and remain so. I visited the Shree Rajneesh Ashram in Poonam in 1978 and have on several occasions visited Medina Rajneesh, the Headquarters of his Following in this country. I wish to make it plain, however, that I am not myself a Follower of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, nor have I ever been. I am, however, in a position to confirm that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh falls to be considered as an exceptional figure by virtue of the breadth and depth of his teachings, the prolific nature of his works and the beneficial effects which his teachings appear to have on his very numerous disciples. He has certainly made a substantial contribution to World philosophy and is of World-renown. [signed] |
