You are right, this has not been thought through well. I propose to have this one rule: follow the exact text of the title-page. That would lead to no capitals after the first letter and omitting all commas and most colons. I think that is the best we can do. You are right, this has not been thought through well. I propose to have this one rule: follow the exact text of the title-page. Have a look at Meditatie. This does justice to all of the books, omits the commas-and-colons problem and seems more user-friendly.
