Churchgate-1 Letterhead

Osho made his big move from Kamala Nehru Nagar in Jabalpur to apartment #27, on the 4th floor of CCI Chambers, at 210, Dinshaw Vacha Rd in Churchgate, an area of Bombay/Mumbai, at the end of Jun 1970. It was time for him to connect with the larger world, which soon started coming, crowding his apartment and especially overwhelming the elevators. He soon had to move.

His short stay in CCI Chambers generated only three known letterheads, one in Hindi and two in English. Perhaps even just one English one would have sufficed, but the spelling mistakes in this, the first one, necessitated some improvements.

The letterhead has a monochrome dark grey-green Jeevan Jagriti Kendra logo in the top left corner with navy text in the top right:

Acharya Rajaneesh in a large flowing font, over:
27 C. C. I. CHEMBERS BOMBAY-20 PHONE NO. : 293782 in small all-caps.

Not only did the "Rajaneesh" and "Chembers" have to get fixed, but we may wonder about the logo as well. The two examples of this logo seen in previous letterheads have nine circles and an elegant sinuous flame. In this one there are only eight circles with the flame somewhat straighter and stiff. Perhaps that made three strikes for this poor letterhead.

In the event, only four letters are known (so far) to have been written on this letterhead. Publication info is shown where known:

Letter written on 15 Oct 1970 (Samadhi), to Ma Yoga Samadhi, published in Prem Ke Phool (प्रेम के फूल) as letter #150
