synopsis
The Osho News account is a partial translation of "a sizeable article by Shyam Lal Soni, a childhood friend of Osho", in which Osho declares to his companions that religion and philosophy shall be his calling. They are surprised, as it is a big change. They are sitting by the local river, Shakkar Nadi, which joins the Narmada about 20 km north of their location, that confluence being about 150 km downstream from Jabalpur. The occasion is Kartik Purnima, the full moon of November, this one being the largest and brightest full moon (Supermoon) of the 20th century.
The "sizeable article" originally appeared in the Dec 1968 issue of Jyoti Shikha (ज्योति शिखा), a quarterly magazine in Hindi dedicated to sharing Osho's words and doings. The wiki will be making a transcription and translation available at Osho's Journey (1968 article) in due course, which will contain the full description of this event and much more on Osho's early life.
