Osho wrote many letters in Hindi and English to Sw Chaitanya Veetaraga, some of which were published in various letter collections. This one is an English original dated 23rd May 1971. It was published in The Silent Music as letter #24, and later in A Cup of Tea as letter #283.

The letterhead reads:

acharya rajneesh on top in lower-case
A-1 WOODLAND PEDDAR ROAD BOMBAY-26 PHONE : 382184 in blue ALL-CAPS

The logo in the upper right corner is a "standard" Jeevan Jagriti Kendra logo in two colours.

The whole letter is written in black ink except for a bright red signature. An interesting feature of this letter and the one written to Veetaraga on the 20th is the correction of the spelling, or at least the transliteration, of his name. This happens twice in a few days, with correct transliterations in between, on the 21st and 22nd. Note also the unique style of crossing out the mistake.

acharya rajneesh

A-1 WOODLAND PEDDAR ROAD BOMBAY-26. PHONE: 382184

dear chaitanya veetraga, Love. Silence is benediction.

But not the silence which you can create.

Because you are the noise.

So you can not create silence.

But you can create the illusion of it.

And this illusion is created by all units of auto-hypnotic techniques.

So never use auto-suggestion to be silent.

Rather be aware of the constantly chattering mind.

And be aware not to make it still but to understand it.

And this very understanding glowers into a silence which is not just absence of noise.

But a positive bliss.

Rajneesh ke pranam

23.5.1971
