Letter written on 29 Jul 1961

This is one of hundreds of letters Osho wrote to Ma Anandmayee, then known as Madan Kunwar Parakh. It was written on 29th July 1961. The letterhead has a simple "रजनीश" (Rajneesh) in the top left area, in a heavy but florid font, and "115, Napier Town, Jabalpur (M.P.) in the top right, in a lighter but still somewhat florid font.

Osho's salutation in this letter is just plain "मां", Maan, Mom or Mother. It has a few of the hand-written marks that have been observed in other letters: a blue number (11) in a circle in the top right corner, a red tick mark and a pale blue figure which reads "36" in a mirror (Devanagari characters).

रजनीश ११५, नेपियर टाउन जबलपुर (म. प्र.) २९.७.६१ मां, सूरज उपर उठ आया है। आकश खूला है और रास्ता पक्षियों के कलरव से भरा है। वृक्षों के नेचे धूप-छाया के सुन्दर जालों में से गुजरकर घर लौटा हूं। मैं भूल जाता हूँ कि मैं हूँ : वृक्ष रह जाते हैं : सूरज रह जाता है : पक्षियों के गीत रह जाते हैं। “मैं” नहीं होता तब आनंद होता है। कोई अनुभव करने को नहीं होता तब अनुभूति होती है। कैसा रहस्य है! मिटो तब पाना है : खोजाओ तब पाना है। किसी ऐसे ही क्षण में कबीर ने गाया था: “हैरत हैरत हे सखी, रह्‌या कबीर हिराई बूंद समाना समुंद में सो कत हेरी जाई।“ मैं कल एक विचार गोष्टी में बोला हूँ। मैंने कहा : “धर्म मृत्यु है। जहां हो वहां मिटो – मरो, तब नया जीवन मिलता है।“ स्वस्थ और प्रसन्न हूँ। रेखा-पत्र मिल गया है। तारा के समाचार से सुख हुआ। वह कुछ बने ऐसी कामना है। सबको मेरे प्रणाम। रजनीश के प्रणाम

Partial translation

"Yesterday in one forum (meeting) I have said: “Religion is death. Wherever you are, dissolve (disappear) – die, then the new life is achieved.” "
