Letter written on 4 Jun 1963

This is one of hundreds of letters Osho wrote to Ma Anandmayee, then known as Madan Kunwar Parakh. It was written on 4th June 1963. The letterhead has "Acharya Rajneesh" in a large, messy font to the right of and above the rest, which reads:

Osho's salutation in this letter is a simple "मां", Maan, Mom or Mother. There are a couple of the hand-written marks seen in other letters, a black tick mark and a faint but readable mirror-image number in the bottom right corner, 185. This 185 is the same as was seen in an earlier letter, creating a somewhat anomalous situation which needs to be looked into.

This letter has been published in Krantibeej (क्रांतिबीज) as letter 112 (edited and trimmed text) and later in Bhavna Ke Bhojpatron Par Osho (भावना के भोजपत्रों पर ओशो) on p 223.

The PS reads: "Your letter is received. Thinking of giving reply daily - but the hand stops! What more pleasing would be than coming to Chanda? But heat has created bad effect on the health hence planning to come to Chanda in rains by taking leaves. Ask forgiveness from Sharda on my behalf. Want to see Pararth but only when the God desires - isn't it?" It can be understood that Osho has not visited Chanda in 1963 as on 4th June - name of the new baby boy of Sharda is kept 'PARARTH' as per his desire noted in the PS of Letter written on 25 Jan 1963. He visited Chanda last only between 6-13 Oct 1962 as per his letter of 29 Sep 1962.

आचार्य रजनीश दर्शन विभाग महाकोशल कला महाविध्यालय ११५, नेपियर टाउन, जबलपुर (म. प्र.) ४ जून १९६३ मां, ‘एक सराय में एक रात्रि एक यात्री ठहरा था। वह जब पहुँचा तो कुछ यात्री विदा हो रहे थे। सुबह जब वह विदाई हो रहा था तो और यात्री आरहे थे। सराय में अतिथि आते और चले जाते लेकिन आतिथेय वही का वही था।’ एक साधु यह कहकर पूछता था कि क्या यही घटना मनुष्य के साथ प्रतिक्षण नहीं घट रही है? मैं भी यही पूछता हूँ और कहता हूँ कि जीवन में अतिथि और आतिथेय को पहचान लेने से बडी और कोई बात नहीं है। शरीर-मन एक सराय है। उसमें विचार के, वासनाओं के, विकारों के अतिथि आते हैं। पर इन अतिथियों से प्रथक्‌ भी वहां कुछ है। आतिथेय भी है। यह आतिथेय कौन है? यह ‘कौन’ कैसे जाना जाये? बुद्ध ने कहा है : ‘रुक जाओ’ और यह रुक जाना ही उसका जानना है। (बुद्ध का पूरा वचन है : ‘यह पागल मन रुकता नहीं है, यदि यह रुक जाये तो वही बोधि है; वही निर्वाण है।’) मन के रुकते ही आतिथेय प्रगट होजाता है। यह शुद्ध, नित्य-बुद्ध, चैतन्य है। जो न कभी जन्मा, न मरा। न जो बद्ध है, न मुक्त होता है। जो केवल है और जिसका होना परम आनंद है। रजनीश के प्रणाम पुनश्च: आपका पत्र मिला है। रोज उत्तर देने की सोचता हूँ पर हाथ रुक जाता है! चांदा आऊँ, इससे ज्यादा सुखद क्या है? पर गर्मियों का स्वास्थ्य पर बुरा असर पड़ा है इसलिए बर्षा में छुट्टियां लेकर चांदा आने की सोचता हूँ। शारदा से मेरी ओर से क्षमा मांगलें। परार्थ को देखना है पर जब प्रभु की मर्जी हो तभी न?
