Sexual abuse in the sannyas world

Rumours of sexual abuse of children by adult sannyasins -- 100% of them male as far as we know -- have swirled about for many years but a real airing of the subject has not happened. Thus, the extent of it has not been explored, nor the damage acknowledged and addressed. In Sep 2021, some survivors of this abuse have begun telling their stories in Facebook, in the name of clearing the air.

This page is intended as a part of that clearing. Its aim is to offer support for the women who have come out to share their stories and to encourage the men who preyed on them to look deep within themselves to try to understand.

The wiki will not be "naming names" until it feels appropriate to do so. For now we will be led by the courageous women who are coming out. Our format is unclear, our direction fluid, but eventually this will likely be a kind of clearinghouse central page linking here and there. It will be as comprehensive as it needs to be. Further details as the page and ancillary pages grow.
