I studied Painting and Photography in Belgium, where I was born and have been a travelling photographer since the mid sixties.

In 1969, I came for two months to explore and photograph Ireland.

Very impressed by the light and stillness of it s rural life, i returned a few years later and stayed. I have been based here ever since.

Exhibition 23rd to 31st August 2018
Fifteen photographs in this exhibition are taken from one of my books:
“ L Eternel Irlandais”, edited by Francine Deroudille, Robert Doisneau’s daughter, (both of them my colleagues in Rapho photo agency.) published by Les Editions du Chene in Paris, in 2003, and now out of print.
The other half of the exhibition is a body of work I started in the Tyrone Guthrie centre, in Monaghan, last November when i went back to my brushes to create, in ink and watercolours: “ The Adventures of Brown Cat”
BC is in love with nature, water, clouds, birds, fishes and flies.
Like me, he spends most of his time in a wee caravan on the shores of the Corrib, drifting in his boat, lost in clouds of mayflies, elusive speckled brown trouts and darting seagulls.
I soon discovered, among islands and hills of the Corrib and seashores of the burren, that I am Brown Cat.
The exhibition runs from the 23rd to 31st August in The Courthouse Gallery, Kinvarra.
It will be opened on the 23rd at 7.30 by Christopher Frayling, former Rector of the Royal College of Art, London and Chair of Arts Council, England.
