~ 1977

Born Jan 2, 1936 as Heiner Maria Gartung in Vechelde near Braunschweig; died May 13, 2012 in Zschachenmühle.

He was a German Avantgarde painter, musician and conceptual artist. In the 1960ies he was an important representative of the Critical Realism, Pop-Art, Conceptual-Art and Fluxus.

He established three large Sannyas communes in Germany, the Rajneesh Purvodaya Ashram, Margarethenried, the Rajneeshstadt, Meinhard and OshoStadt, Zschachenmühle where he spent the last years of his life.

Osho used to shower him with presents - robes, hats, one of his chairs, even one of his Rolls Royces which is now gathering dust in a shed in OshoStadt.
