Sw Prabhu Sharan

(Tony Sheridan, né Anthony Esmond Sheridan McGinnity)

Sharan/Tony, 21 May 1940 – 16 February 2013, was an English rock and roll singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was best known as an early collaborator of The Beatles, the only non-Beatle to appear as lead singer on a Beatles recording which charted as a single. He lived most of his adult life near Hamburg, though with long forays elsewhere, including the States, where he played with Elvis' band, and a stint in Vietnam entertaining the troops, where he was radicalized, starting him on the quest which led him to Osho in 1982.

" Außerdem gab es in den 80gern mal ein offizielles Konzert in Leipzig mit Tony Sheridan. Wir wußten, daß er Sannyasin ist. Der hatte zufällig an dem Tag auch noch Geburtstag. Die Leipziger Community ist dann in rot und mit Mala und einem Riesen-Blumenstrauß zum Konzert gegangen. Prabhu Sharan ist fast umgefallen vor Überraschung: "Ich dachte, wir sind in der DDR verboten!". Also hat er dem Konzertpublikum verkündet, daß er aus Anlaß seines Geburtstages heute keinen alten Rocksongs spielen würde, sondern spontan eine Poona-Celebration. Es war sehr sehr herzöffnend. Er war dann noch zweimal in der DDR und hatte sein Wohnmobil dann voll mit Osho-Büchern und Kassetten für die "Brüder und Schwestern im Osten". "
