Pujari (middle name, if any, unknown) was an American group-leader from the Bay area, where he taught karate and yoga. He led groups in these also in the ashram, plus the Tathata group (unconditional acceptance) and sometimes the Tao group as well. As the Tathata group ran only 22 hours and was offered frequently, he came to darshan frequently and got a lot of face time with Osho.

This came to a crescendo in May 1976, when he offered to be the recipient of someone else's unwanted energy in an exorcism (see a lengthy report here). He was always up for trying something new and it seemed to go well, but in a few days he was having his last darshan (Beloved of My Heart, ch 16) and was on his way back to the States. He asked Osho about doing a 28-day Vipassana, learning sitar and taking risks, and then he was gone, never to be seen again.
