That the Hindi talk that gave rise to Ahinsa Darshan (अहिंसा दर्शन) and its English translation Philosophy of Non-Violence was given on Jan 1 1966 has remained unquestioned probably since long before it was enshrined in the CD-ROM. Nevertheless, it seems that fact must be disturbed now, since the 1965 Gujarati translation has come to light. And a second edition at that.

Moving backward from that pub date, it seems reasonable to suppose that a translation and two editions would take more than eight months but less than twenty after the talk, which would put the talk sometime in 1964, with 1965 not out of the question if they had got on it right away.

The question also arises of whether this is all just from one talk. The CD-ROM describes the book as "Talks [plural] given from 1/1/66, original in Hindi, 1 Chapters [sic, perhaps their plural usage in "Talks" was no more appropriate than this clunker], year published: 1968, pamphlet, 33 pages, translated from Hindi".

And the description in the 1965 Gujarati title page, "(આચાર્ય શ્રી રજનીશના અમૃત પ્રવચનોનું સંકલન)" -- Compilation of Acharya Shree Rajneesh's immortal lectures -- is also suggestive. But one cannot rely too heavily on such details, so . . . -- doofus-9 05:33, 30 November 2018 (UTC)
