Various versions of Hindi translation of The Ultimate Alchemy, Vol 1 have come to light recently which have made their origins and inter-relationships much clearer than previously. See Atma-Puja Upanishad (आत्म-पूजा उपनिषद) (disambiguation page) for the story of that. But very little is yet known about this volume, published by Lokbharti Prakashan. Lokbharti, which seems not to have published one other book of Osho's, appears to be a decent-size, respected publisher with a long history, and is now an imprint of a larger company.

A few copies of these various volumes (of Atma-Puja) have turned up in a library in Italy but because of some titling ambiguities, they are easy to get confused. FWIW, the library is the Open Library system of Venezia, which has 17 other Osho books along with the three below, in Hindi, English and Italian. The list of all of them, with links to the individual books, is at [1]; the three books relevant here are:

  • Ātma-Pūjā Upanishad / Bhagvan Shree Rajneesh - Allahabad : lokbharti Prakashan, 1978. - 471 p. ; 23 cm ((Front. trasl. dall'hindi.
  • Ātm-Pūjā Upanishad. Bhāg 2 / Bhagvan Shree Rajneesh - Puna : Rajneesh Foundation, 1980. - 208 p. ; 18 cm. ((Front. trasl. dall'hindi.
  • Ātm-Pūjā Upanishad. Bhag 3 (about which nothing more was said)

No cover images were supplied for any of them.

It will be observed that this Lokbharti edition is much longer than the Bhag-2, thus containing translations of possibly all 18 talks of UA Vol 1, though such an inference cannot be deemed solid. In fact, we cannot even be 100% sure that it is translated from Vol 1. It may be from Vol 2, though this would likely be a long shot. And while we're here speculating, it also will be observed that the Lokbharti edition emerged two years before the small six-chapter translations put out by Rajneesh Foundation in 1980. So how did this Lokbharti manage to do this? Unauthorized translation? And the only Osho book Lokbharti has ever published? Lots of mysteries with this one.

And it should also be said that when and if it ever becomes clear which chapters constitute this volume, this page can likely disappear into one of the other Atma-Puja pages. -- doofus-9 (talk) 19:30, 10 November 2014 (PST), updated doofus-9 17:59, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
