About the edited audios . . .

Osho will often in his answers to questions refer back to the question, also sometimes to the questioner's name. And when he does this, he will often just re-read the question or the relevant part of it, which can only be in its original form. So if the question has been altered, are they also -- or will they be -- editing the parts of his answers to conform with the new form of the question? This will be more difficult than editing out the names right at the beginning, but that editing may be just the thin edge of the audio editing wedge. How far are they going to go with this?

I searched in Beyond Enlightenment for examples where this might occur and, using the search term "you say", which is his frequent lead-in to citing (a part of) the question, found no relevant instances. This is not to say he does not cite the questions in BE, just he doesn't use that phrase "you say" in such a context. doofus-9 21:46, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Indeed, no reading of the questions by Osho in these cases. He does repeat the name of the questioner sometimes though, and these have not been edited out.

Another thing: the questions as originally read by Maneesha, in front of the master, have a different quality than the dubbed ones, even though she did it herself. In my ears, that is. How to say: mundane is the word. Maybe that is even on purpose: hey, we're all normal people here and have just another question. The feel of existential urgency is missing. --Sugit (talk) 06:36, 20 November 2016 (UTC)

My to do list for the page --Sugit (talk) 11:27, 17 December 2016 (UTC) / suggestions for others to elaborate:

  • Availability of books in print, availability of electronic books
  • Audio history, production, intros, changed questions, availability
  • Video history, production, intros, availability.
  • From when was the lecture-date left out of the colophon/intro? (For books and tapes.)

Sugit love,

you say "there are 5,863 recorded English lectures and 5,064 recorded Hindi lectures."
where did you get these numbers?
currently we show in the Timeline "About 3156 English discourses, more than 3000 Hindi discourses and more than 2000 Satsangs and Darshans were recorded between 1964 and 1990."
i have 3153 audio discourses here and was under the impression that it was a complete collection.

these are VERY different numbers. --Rudra (talk) 06:18, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

Awful! I am very sorry, was looking in the wrong column of my spreadsheet, and forgot to use any common sense. My numbers referred to a completely different and irrelevant statistic. Corrected now. --Sugit (talk) 12:56, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

hmmm... i do have 3153 audio discourses here, not 3,079 (and maybe +16) as you suggest. --Rudra (talk) 17:41, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

I will send you my list, and then you say which extra ones you got. --Sugit (talk) 18:04, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

CD-ROM It's All About Change (e-book edition)

from The Rebel, ch.5:

A man of rebellious spirit will have to be aware about every ideal, howsoever ancient, and will respond according to his awareness and understanding -- not according to the conditioning of the society. That is true renunciation.

from ch.3:

A person of rebellious spirit will have to be aware about every ideal, howsoever ancient, and will respond according to his awareness and understanding – not according to the conditioning of the society. That is true renunciation.

from Hari Om Tat Sat, ch.5:

America itself has thirty million people who cannot afford enough food. It is not a question of giving to somebody else, it is a question of giving to its own people. But the problem becomes complicated, because if you start giving free food to thirty million people, then others will start asking, "Why should we pay for our food?" Then the prices of things will go down. With the prices going down, the farmers will not be interested anymore in producing -- what is the point? Afraid of disturbing the economy, they let thirty million people die on the streets and go on drowning the superfluous foodstuff in the ocean.

from ch.4:

Europe and America both have millions of people who cannot afford enough food. So it is not even a question of giving to somebody else, it is a question of giving to its own people! But the problem becomes complicated, because if you start giving free food to millions of people, then others will start asking, "Why should we pay for our food?" Then the prices of things will go down. With the prices going down, the farmers will not be interested anymore in producing – what is the point? Afraid of disturbing the economy, millions of people die on the streets while we go on drowning the surplus food in the ocean.

from Sermons in Stones, ch.29:

Every man is unique. The moment you are all equal you are a crowd, your individuality has been taken away. You are no longer yourself but just a cog in the wheel.

from ch.4:

Every person is unique. The moment you are all equal you are a crowd, your individuality has been taken away. You are no longer yourself but just a cog in the wheel.
