Deliberations
Gahre as a no-frills book unto itself has only four chapters in the recent editions, and in the CD-ROM it is the same. Its translation, Hidden Mysteries, has six but that includes the two chapters on Jyotish, Indian astrology. Whether the earliest editions had four or six is not known but at 136 pages for the 1971 edition, four looks likely. And many sites associate the Jyotish chapters, at least in Hindi, with Main Kahta Aankhan Dekhi (see below), not Gahre.
There are two other books with which Gahre has got tangled up, and they are Jin Khoja Tin Paiyan (जिन खोजा तिन पाइयां) and Main Kahta Aankhan Dekhi (मैं कहता आंखन देखी). With Jin Khoja, it is a fairly straightforward case of mistaken identity, based on that book's use of "Gahre Pani Paith" as a subtitle; as often happens, the subtitle is included as part of the title and so searches lead you to the wrong book.
With MKAD, it is more complicated. At times, Gahre has all but disappeared into MKAD, which has been both a simple book and the "master title" for several volumes gathered together under its name. It looks like Gahre was always just four chapters, and the two Jyotish books that got thrown into its translation were not associated with it before, or really ever in Hindi. All that has been pretty much sorted out already in MKAD's talk page but not updated here. A reminder came along in the form of Jagdish's Dates and Places info for Gahre -- added up beside the TOC -- it even specifies the themes of Gahre's four talks: temples, pilgrimage, the significance of the tilak and image worship. -- doofus-9 08:06, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
