About the number of discourses, 30 is how many are in the original English book. The G**gle Books version appears to have fewer chapters than that, perhaps only half as many. The whole TOC was not available but that's where it was heading. So some editing has happened, reduction of unsuitable topics, combination? We await reports from fluent Hindi readers.

Oh, and the other cover image was associated with the same ISBN but no pub date mentioned, whereas the large image did go with 2003. -- Sarlo (talk) 23:37, 21 May 2014 (PDT)


That was then and this is now: Now we can be somewhat confident that there are only 13 chapters/discourses, because we have an image of the actual hard copy TOC. And we have another clue in what went on in a parallel series, Om Mani Padme Hum (ॐ मणि पद्मे हुम्), which was based on a similar English series and had only nine chapters, many of which were not whole chapters but just whole questions. As Hari Om and some of its chapters are so short, we can assume that happened here as well.

And Shailendra, who supplied the scans, has also come up with "sources" for each chapter, shown as dates below in the TOC. The chapters are indeed answers to selected questions, with one discourse even having three Q&A's selected.

These source dates were printed in the Hindi book. Shailendra spotted a mistake in one, ch 11, which was printed as 02 Mar 1988, and identified the talk as coming from 03 Feb. Since it was likely that this was a transposing of numbered days and months -- 02/03 for 03/02 -- it seems unlikely that other similar mistakes were made, as they would be fairly easy to notice. -- doofus-9 07:34, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Corrected "तो" into "दो" in ch.3, "निर्भर" into "निर्भार" in ch.10 and "मिलना" into "मिलन" according TOCs of two editions (1989, 2016).

Shailendra has since passed on a more detailed reckoning of what is what in the Hindi translation "booklet". For a bonus, he also shared the questioner's names. It goes like this:
