The page was moved today from "Letter written on 29 Oct 1962" to the current date, the 26th. It had been put on the 29th based on the impression that the digit after the 2 is a variant form of the Devanagari nine. This variant form (and others) are seldom used these days, and there is no Unicode support for them, but back when Osho was writing, they were not so rare, just as some variant form letter-characters can be seen in his writing and in books from the 60s and early 70s.

After some discussion, it has been decided to declare this digit a six, based on the assessment of a real Hindi speaker, Dilip. Dilip also noted that the existence of "another" Letter written on 29 Oct 1962 also weighed against this letter being on the 29th, as two letters in one day to the same person would seem very unlikely.

Supporters of the other side argued that there was considerable difference between the two purported sixes (in "26" and "62"), and found support for this digit's nineness at Stack Exchange.

There is yet another variant-form nine discussed on Talk:Letter written on 5 Aug 1961, linking from there to two examples. This form is not shown on the Stack Exchange page.

About the "other" "Letter written on 29 Oct 1962", it was formerly listed at "Letter written on 29 Oct 1962 (2)" but is now deemed to be the only letter on that day, occupying the spot that this 26 Oct letter once occupied. -- doofus-9 07:22, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
