Anandshila

I have investigated the location of Anandshila and I have fair guess of the location.

  • In Chapter "Glimpses of Anand Shila Meditation Camp" in Blessed Days With Osho, Ageh Bharati writes "... On one side, there were hilltops, on the other, a beautiful lake,... It was a vast open ground between the hills and the lake."
  • Trimurti Hill/Hills: I think the peak/peaks of the hill is currently known by various names such Tahuli Peak, Daadima Peak, Haji Malang Peak, Panch Peer Peak, Ganesh Kartik Peaks etc. But it is clear that the hill has three peaks or pinnacles as some calls. As we know from here that the Trimurti (literally translated as Three Statues) are three points/peaks, I am fairly confident that the hill near Ambernath is this Tahuli Peak. Images on GMaps and GSearch shows three peaks clearly. This blog mentions three pinnacles too as many others.
  • Lake: I believe that the above mentioned lake is GIP Railway Dam/JP Dam Lake formed by a dam built by Railways in 1915 on Waldhuni Nallah/river. It is located here on GMaps. As lake is located north of the hill, there is a clear view of three peaks from the lake. Images/videos on GMaps and Gsearch shows these peaks. The other Chikhloli lake has no flat ground between hills and the lake.
  • So the open ground between these lake and hills was a location of the Anandshila. The location is currently covered by the industrial complexes of Additional Ambernath MIDC.
  • The government issues at the location as said in Talk:Meditation_Camps#Feb_1973.2C_Anandshila could be due to upcoming industrial complex. The govt. may have marked the location for future industrial use and thus have denied the construction. It is just my guess. The Additional MIDC was opened probably in 1990s.
So my fair guess is Additional Ambernath MIDC was the location of Anandshila. Opinions/comments are welcome. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 08:04, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
