Talk:Mahaveer-Vani, Bhag 2 (महावीर-वाणी, भाग 2)

Note that date info explorations below were written before it was known that Bhag 2's 18 discourses were split into two when the 27-talk editions began to be published. The article page had info about a number of editions since 1998, but it was not understood that these were all of the 27-talk kind, thus misconceptions arose in trying to fit facts into the wrong boxes. Details in the small updates appended where appropriate. -- doofus-9 06:28, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

Source for the dates of this series is "Doc X", whose accuracy < 100%. Therefore dates can be considered provisional. One semi-confirmation of Vol 2 dates is a blog which quotes from this vol and dates it to Sep 14, 1972 but calls it the 2nd discourse. Hmmmm. -- Sarlo (talk) 10:50, 4 February 2014 (PST)

Sep 14 1972 would indeed be the second discourse of the 27-talk collection, but it was the 11th of the 18-pack. -- 06:28, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

that isbn was wrong as well --Rudra (talk) 14:46, 4 February 2014 (PST)

Neeten's Osho Source Book is a new source since the above was written. He has dates for this series as Sep 4-12, but still the 18 discourses. That would be possible if two a day but that was not the usual pattern except at camps. Another option though, and with the same start date. -- Sarlo (talk) 22:44, 9 July 2014 (PDT)

This particular infobit from Neeten was one of the unclear bits he had collected alluded to below. These are the dates for the first half of Bhag 2, but not of the whole thing. -- 06:28, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

Information for the 2003 Rebel edition came from an old wiki page still kicking around, entitled simply Mahaveer-vani, soon to be obsoleted. It lacked a Vol # likely because of the low-res of the cover image, but if you turn the img 90º and blow it up and squint, you can see the भाग २. The page had an ISBN-10 (now updated to -13) by which the data were found for the 1998 edition, still intact at Printsasia. -- Sarlo (talk) 21:18, 26 July 2014 (PDT)

The 2003 edition is indeed Bhag 2, but the 27-pack, not the 18er. -- 06:28, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

In the end, the dates of Sep 4-21 are supported by information from Laherubhai quoted in Neeten's Bombay section. Laheru also confirmed that the Vani discourses were given from 8:30 to 10:00 every morning. Dates above of Sep 4-12 from Neeten are cited in his Appendix section, which contains a lot of unprocessed data from all sources, not all correct.

Laherubhai not only attended all these discourses but was the man in charge of recording them. -- 06:28, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Osho's Itinerary gives 8:13-9:45.--DhyanAntar 14:31, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

TOC below is from Osho World and osho.com audiobook offerings. Titles are the same between them except that o.com appears to have added classificatory material which is unsupported, so that has been omitted.

OW's offering came in groups of ten mp3's (and much cheaper) and so Vani-1 runs into Vani-2 and -2 into -3, treating the 54 talks as one organic whole, at least as audios. And o.com, while maintaining the grouping of the different volumes, also numbers the talks sequentially, so Vani-2 starts at 19 and runs to 36, as below. Books of course were published separately, with Vani-3 almost invisible. It is not known whether this numbering was followed in the books. -- doofus-9 06:13, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
