Talk:Nov-Dec-1979 Darshans

There are two date anomalies that arise in the compiling / transcription of Osho's words in darshan in this period. Both are addressed in Talk:Osho Timeline 1979 but to make it handier, they are also addressed here, and in greater detail with respect to the relevant portions.

1. There is a gap from Nov 15 - Dec 4 in the Hindi discourse series at the time, Ramduware Jo Mare (रामदुवारे जो मरे), due to a major chicken-pox quarantine event, with a few odd details. Scriptures also has a gap but indicated with these curious entries in the CD-ROM:

Nov 14: "[There is no transcript for Nov 14; probably there was no darshan that evening]" (and that's all there is for ch 14)
Nov 15 and 16: Text for a lone initiation talk given on each of these nights.
nothing for Nov 17, and
Dec 5: "[From Nov 18 to Dec 4, Osho did not give darshan. A few sannyasins had contracted chicken pox and to avoid any infection being passed to Osho, he did not give darshan again until Dec 5.]"

In fact, the precise dates Ramduware was suspended was not known, but it was calculated to be twenty days, given that there were ten talks in thirty days. Its dates have been derived from this CD-ROM info about Scriptures. And using the process in reverse, we can conclude that the already peculiar entries for Nov 15 and 16 are beyond unlikely, and their words must belong in some other darshan, probably nearby. And since both Nov 13 and Dec 5 are fairly short, this is easy to accommodate.

2. The CD-ROM indicates that there was a normal sannyas darshan Dec 11 but nothing on the 12th. This is so out of keeping with the normal practice of that era to have Osho's birthday celebration supersede any evening activities that it has been deemed an error. -- doofus-9 21:20, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

please double check your counting. some cells are wrong. i didn't check all

ch 1, Nov 1 -- 5+2=7 -- only 4 names are shown
ch 4, Nov 4 -- 6+2=8 -- 7 names are shown

Interesting! And good spotting! As it happens, i got onto the second one myself because i saw that Antar had found a name in ch 4 that neither of us had seen the first time around, and he added it here, without updating the name count. So i updated that, and afterward, looking at the page, noticed the discrepancy in ch 1, so fixed it too. So there ya go. And i checked that all the rest at least have the first number matching the count. -- doofus-9 05:29, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
