About the number of discourses, 27 is how many are in the original English book. The G**gle Books version appears to have fewer chapters than that, perhaps around 17 or 18. The whole TOC was not available but that's where it was heading. So some editing has happened, reduction, combination? We await reports from fluent Hindi readers. -- Sarlo (talk) 20:03, 21 May 2014 (PDT)

In the meantime, a closer look was taken at the G**gle Books version. It now seems likely that there are just 15 chapters, all of them somewhat short. This fits with the pattern of other Mantra Series translations into Hindi, which were all done quickly after the English versions, and all substantially abridged.

One thing that led to a speculation of 17 or 18 is that the TOC page ends at Ch 15 but gives the impression that there are many more pages. A decent-length Ch 15 plus 15 or so pages of OIF and Resort bumpf would account for that. Plus, the page after the TOC page is not mentioned as being omitted "in this preview". Thus the TOC is now presumed to be complete.

It is also likely that Diamond has not undertaken this edition entirely on their own, but that a Rebel predecessor exists. See the other Mantra Series translations for examples. TOC image in the article page and text version below are derived from a screenshot of the above-mentioned GB version.

Info on the particular source chapters and questions translated is not yet available, but Ch 1 is almost certainly from Maneesha's theme-setting question in Ch 1 of the original. -- doofus-9 18:18, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

A more definitive trace of the "Rebel predecessor" mentioned above has turned up, in the form of a list of recent publications found in several books published in March 1989. -- doofus-9 05:57, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
