Talk:Samadhi Ke Sapt Dwar (समाधि के सप्त द्वार)

From The Sannyas Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Dates and times for Sapt Dwar's discourses are found in the Osho World e-book. Titles are identical to those in the OMI hard copy. The e-book gives the location for each talk as Anand Shila, Ambarnath, the dates for each talk and whether morning (prata) or night (ratri), excepting ch 10. Page numbering is as in the e-book. It is possible that some of the times of day conflict with those given in the CD-ROM for the New Alchemy Appendix talks. It is also possible that those times given were not examined closely, and some morning talks may turn out to be afternoon or evening talks. -- doofus-9 (talk) 00:29, 12 December 2014 (PST)

All these 17 talks in Hindi are immediately followed by Osho talking in English. The 17 mp3s available at OW have both the Hindi and the English parts of the discourses. The English parts have been published as The New Alchemy: To Turn You On Appendix 1 - 17. --Sugit (talk) 10:55, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Great, so that solidifies all that info. Do the Sapt Dwar times above (am/pm) line up with the New Alchemy CD-ROM info? The ones above seem weighted towards towards pm (ratri) per the e-book, may not be accurate. But the CD-ROM may not be accurate either. Ha ha! -- doofus-9 (talk) 16:13, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

I used the CD-ROM info to fill in the dates and am/pm. That follows the regular pattern of first day pm, next days am + pm. The book has no date-info.

Indeed, cf. the CD-ROM the e-book has more pm=ratri. Sarlo, you may want to revise the remarks about the dating of Sadhana-Sutra (साधना-सूत्र).

Complicated business!

About am/pm, the CD-ROM is not infallible but if having to choose blind between it and this e-book, i would go with CD-ROM, especially as it aligns with the "usual" pattern of the 8.5-day camps, and the weird pattern of two ratri talks and no prata talks on some days looks fairly unlikely. I guess the only thing that could change or confirm that 100% would be any times given for the Alchemy Appendix talks in the actual hard copy, and you say it has no date info so that may be that.

I'll revise the Sadhana Sutra Remarks to make them less chatty and more "main page style", since that was not done when Rudra migrated that section from the discussion page and ... hmmmm. I guess, since Sapt Dwar has two audios apparently with meditation instructions and apparently not included in the book, one for Dynamic and one for Tratak, it is possible that the three Sadhana Sutra meditation instruction talks were not given in Anandshila but Mt Abu with the rest of Sadhana Sutra. But possibly not. They could have been given in Anandshila too, just like all of Alchemy's Appendix, and alongside Sapt Dwar's two, making five such Hindi audios compared to nine English, not really unreasonable. Have you listened to those two Sapt Dwar meditation instruction audios? If there's nothing there, like finding those Sapt Dwar audios partly or wholly identical to the SD ones, or some English turning up there, i think we have to leave the rest as an unknown. So i'll update accordingly. So that's the state of the art. -- doofus-9 (talk) 15:46, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

  • OshoWorld Audio #18 is the dynamic meditation immediately after #16 (73-02-17 morning)
  • OshoWorld Audio #19 is the tratak meditation immediately after #17 (73-02-17 evening)

They could be identified becaus the discourses end with the very beginning of the meditation. --Sugit (talk) 15:28, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Subtitle added on the basis of info received from Shailendra, confirmed by the easily legible subtitle text in the 2004 Rebel cover image. The resolution of the 2011 OMI cover image is insufficient to read independently, but good enough to confirm for that edition. -- doofus-9 06:33, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
