Talk:The Perfect Way

The dates of the "subsequent camp" at Ajol where the discourse(s) of Sadhana Path continued are unknown. As of this writing, the next known camp at Ajol began some eight months later, Feb 2, 1965. But as in Path of Self-Realization, there is a deeper unclarity than just uncertainty about a few dates. The edition notes for the 2001 Rebel edition hint at this: "In this edition the material is divided in 14 chapters, as in Path of Self-Realization". Really? Divided? I thought PoSR was supposed to have new material from Ajol, not just a chopping up of what was already provided from Ranakpur. Or perhaps it does, but the 2001 Rebel Perfect Way is just chopped up and re-arranged to imitate PoSR.

Some deep edition research is needed. FWIW, the Ranch edition explicitly does not have material from any subsequent camp, it is pure Ranakpur, just ten chapters from that camp alone, as in the CD-ROM. So not all editions are created equal. And in fact, at 169 short pages, compared to the 226-229 for the 2001 and other editions, maybe it really is missing material the others have. Stay tuned. -- doofus-9 (talk) 16:22, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

It is strange. According to TOC of first edition of 1979 has also 9 chapters, i.e. missing Farewell. But the end of the book tells that this is the end of Farewell (i compared with CD and Path of Self-Realization (scan)).

I have two possibility: either ch.10 (Farewell) is a part of ch.9 or ch.10 does not shown in TOC.--DhyanAntar 12:29, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

What i wrote earlier above has a few misconceptions. See PoSR's talk page about the discrepancy between ten and fourteen chapters. Original material from Ranakpur was fourteen, not ten which got chopped up. The four evening sessions were first presented as eight but they were all very short so they got condensed.

About nine-vs-ten, since the text is all there, then your two possibilities seem the only realistic ones. -- doofus-9 17:20, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Just don't forget to look at good old <Book Ch to Discourse-dates.xls>, tab <Path of Self Realization>. --Sugit (talk) 17:09, 10 June 2019 (UTC)

Yup, i often forget about this file. you made great work!

That's interesting, there are stated 10 chapters in 1979-1984 editions. Perhaps TOC missed "The Farewell".--DhyanAntar 04:32, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
