This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ülo Johannes Luuka. It is "Exhibit A-38" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I have been teaching social work, as a professor since five years (an. der Berufsakademie des Ministeriums für - Wissenschaft und Kunst des Landes, Baden-Wurttemberg) I am very happy, that I met four years ago Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh -- at first in His books, then as His Neo-Sannyasin in Poona and now in Rajneeshpuram/Oregon twice. You can be sure,I am knowing social problems very well. Before I became a professor,! worked in a public social administration for seven years; I was very engaged in it. Some of my publications can show it:

Ülo Luuka,Gemeinwesenarbeit, ein Weg zur Lösung gesellschaftlicher Konflikte,Lambertus-Verlag 1971

All this doing and knowing I can see, that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh opened my eyes ( and my head and my heart) for the real problem in our society and the different ways coming out of these problems. I would 'nt miss His ability in the science of sociology and psychology.

As for me Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is a religious teacher.

I can say this too, because I studied Theology 1956-1961 at the Universities in Hamburg and Tübingen.

Then I was a protestant priest 1961-1967 (bei der Württembergischen Landeskirche in Stuttgart).

I published "Anmerkungen für guten Religionsunterricht” (in: Für Arbeit und Besinnung vom 1.10.1967 )

In the tapes and books of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh - and now in His silent Being - I can hear the gospel of Jesus.

Now I can love Bhagwan and Jesus more than ever before.

I am not astonished, that, there are some people, who think He is a mad man.

The same was said about Jesus. Please see:

St. John 10,20...He has an evil spirit and ist out of his mind..
St. Luke 23,5 ...He has made trouble the people..
St. John 8,52 ...Now we are certain, that you have an evil spirit..

It would be a pity,if it would need again 2000 years to know, that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is an Enlightened Master.
