This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

19 July 1983.

Dears Sirs,

May I introduce myself, my name is Albert Mol. I was born in Amsterdam on January 3, 1917. This is my fiftith year as a professional artist. I studied Ballet in Paris during the 1930s. I have danced as a soloist with many European Companies* including two and a half years in the Swedish Dance Theater in Stockholm. I worked in several national theaters in France, also as a Coreographer in the Salzburg Festival and the May Festival in Florence. For one year I was a member of the Hollywood Turn About Theater in the mid-fifties. Furthermore I have acted in many plays, movies, and television work. Up till now I have written five books, two of which have become best sellers in the Netherlands, and one was made into a movie. If you want any further information about me you can inquire at the Dutch Embassy.

I would like to give my honest opinon about Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. About six years ago I went to Poona, having heard about Bhagwan, of course curiosity played a big part. Althrough I did not become a sannyasin, I must admit that Bhagwan made a very deep impression on me , such as never happened in my life before. I have read most of his books, which I find a valuable sorce of wisdom in this day and age. I came back to Holland feeling a richer man, not in money but rather in spirit. The fact that I did not become e sannyasin has nothing to do with my great admiration and deepest respect for Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. I feel that a man like Bhagwan is needed for many, many people that are seeking. I have had the great fortune to be a guest many times in the United States. I have always admired this freedom loving country. As a Dutchman I am very much indebted to you for my freedom and liberation in 1945. Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is a man who deserves the freedom you stand for.

I feel it is very beautiful for people to find happiness and love in the person of Bhagwan, which for me comes down to the same happiness people find who worship in any church.

Sincerly,
[signed]
Albert Mol
