This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Alphonse Delnooz PhD. It is "Exhibit A-1290" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

My name is Alphonse Delnooz, I was born 5-2-1957 in Maastricht, Holland.

I have recently received a PhD degree in Orthopsychiatry at the University of Nijmegen, Holland. I have specialized in working with adolescents with behaviour problems, clinical psychology and personality theories. Recently I have finished an extensive research project on runaways.

The findings of this project are or will be reported in two books and a dozen articles in national and international professional and semi-professional journals.

About a year ago I became a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

To my opinion the value of His work can be shown from many different sides. Let me say something as orthopsychiatrist about this value. Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh has developed a unique theoretical model on human personality. In theory and practice of health service there was a deep need for a model that integrates body and mind; ratio, emotions, behaviour and body. Rajneesh's model has fulfilled this need in a fascinating way. His model is very broad, but still specific and clear. Besides that, Rajneesh and those who worked with His inspiration have developed a great number of techniques, based on the model.

The works published by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh have a depth, a clarity, a logical consistence that is outstanding. I am convinced that his impact on the field of health care in the coming decennia will be enormous.
