This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Anny Burger. It is "Exhibit A-228" in the Noles collection.

The original letter was handwritten in German, a text transcription has not yet been created. Hinwil, July 18, 1983

To whom it may concern:

As a convincing Christian I have been working for twenty years as a social worker in the City Mission. During the last ten years, I have had to deal with young people of various ages and social backgrounds. In doing this, I got an insight into the teaching of Bhagwan.

Although this teaching isn’t right for me, I must admit to myself that it is fully valid for all those believing in it. I myself experienced young people who found the way to themselves through the Bhagwan and are today standing on firm ground. Young people who formerly took an aggressive stand towards life have now found their place and are radiating content and joy.

I am therefore convinced that this religion can only be a blessing to all those who follow it from inner conviction, since Bhagwan's teaching shows no compulsion but is founded upon freedom like Christianity.

With kind regards
