This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Dr. Charlotte Hausmann. It is "Exhibit A-282" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Wien

To Whom It May Concern,

I am a graduate of Vienna University and I am working as a doctor in one of Vienna’s hospitals specializing in cardiology. This field of medicine is - at this stage -moving towards a more scientific and also technical appraoch to therapy. But still, I work with human beings. And that's more fascinating than pace-makers, echocardiograms, etc. Having to meet so many ill people at the hospital every day, some of them with very severe haeart failures, demands not only a lot of medical knowledge to deal with their physical needs, it also demands an ability to give moral support, understanding and love.

"Without love, therapy is not possible."
Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh

This has become my key word for my work. And I know the only way to become a real doctor, the only way to really help others is to reach a state where you are able to share love. Bhagwan has been my Master for two years now, and His messages, His meditation techniques have helped me so much in my daily work at the hospital. Meditations are improving my ability to concentrate, to be self-centered. And thus - in a very intricate way - His teaching is helping the patients of our Viennese hospital.

Sincerely,
[signed]
Dr. Charlotte Hausmann
