This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Christoph J. Keyserlingk. It is "Exhibit A-622" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern.

Dear Sir,

more than seven years ago I met Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in Poona. To become His deciple was an event I never dreamt could be possible. There was somebody I had searched for my whole life, a real master whom I could accept without the slightest backthought.

I studied history, sociology and comparative religion at the universities of Bonn, Berlin, Munich and London. I come from a family which is well known for its poets and philosophers (i.e. Count Hermann Keyserling: The Journals of a Philosopher) accordingly I grew up in a very sophisticated surrounding. I worked with Count Karlfried Diirckheim, who is known for his Zen-Meditation-School etc., but nowhere could I find answers, which would satisfy my innermost being. By "chance" I came to Poona. There I did not really find the answers but sombody who was the answer in himself. Bhagwan's love, His awareness, His being became the light in which I was able to learn about myself. To be in His presence is enough to go into my own self. Of course His words helped but much more helps His silence which is beyond His words.

It is impossible to express what He gave me as a Master, as it is a unique experience which as I believe everybody can only experience in his own ways if one allowes onself to be open for such an experience.

To my own surprise since nearly two years I am the director of a company which deals successfully mainly in real-estate with a turn-over of more than DM 30 Millions.

Yours faithfully
