This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. Als von den Stimmbürgern gewählter Bezirksanwalt des Bezirkes Zürich, führe ich StrafUntersuchungen gegen Wirtschaftskriminelle, welche durch komplizierteste Verflechtungen von in- und ausländischen Gesellschaften Banken, redliche Kaufleute und Privatpersonen auf betrügerische Weise immensen Schaden zufügen. Aufgrund unserer Prozessordnung obliegt mir neben der Untersuchungsführung die Anordnung von Untersuchungshaft und zwangsweiser Erhebung von Beweismitteln etc. sowie die Anklageerhebung bei der 1. Gerichtsinstanz. Diese Tätigkeit scheint mir aufgrund meiner persönlichen Ueberzeugung derzeit zur Bekämpfung und Abschreckung von Verbrechen unerlässlich. Sie stellt aber neben den rein juristischen Belangen grosse Anforderungen in persönlicher Hinsicht. Die Gefahr, dass ein staatlicher Ankläger gefühls- und beziehungsmässig abstumpft, ist naheliegend, weil man dabei ständig mit sehr raffinierten und lügenhaften Leuten zu tun hat, welche vorwiegend aus übertriebenem Geltungs- und Luxusbedürfnis Straftaten begehen. Ich bin daher bestrebt, diese Arbeit nicht einfach mechanisch zu bewältigen, sondern den Beschuldigten, soweit dies durch meine Amtspflichten zu vereinbaren ist, auch als Mensch zu begegnen. Vor ca. zwei Jahren habe ich durch das Rajneesh Meditations Center, Gyandip in Zürich Bhagwan näher kennengelernt. Seither besuche ich dort die durch Bhagwan entwickelten Meditationen und Gruppentherapien mehr oder weniger regelmässig. Dies hat mir insofern geholfen, als ich einerseits angestaute Aggressionen abbauen kann und andererseits andersdenkenden Menschen anstatt mit Verachtung mit Achtung begegnen kann. Trotz meiner sicher unbeliebten Tätigkeit werde ich dadurch als Mensch geachtet und die Angeschuldigten kommen mit ihren Verteidigern meist gar nicht auf die Idee, meine Arbeit durch verschiedene Prozessverzögerungen etc. zu erschweren. Desgleichen habe ich erfahren, dass sich meine privaten Beziehungen äusserst positiv veränderten, weil ich durch Bhagwan gelernt habe, die individuellen Eigenarten meiner Freunde zu respektieren und zu lieben und weil in mir eine nicht geahnte Lebensfreude erwachte. In den durch die Bhagwan-Anhänger geführten Gruppen habe ich eine Atmosphäre erlebt, in welcher ich auch als Aussenstehender (ich bin nicht Sannyasin) vollständig akzeptiert und geliebt wurde. Diese liebenswürdige Ausstrahlung und Lebensfreude scheint mir ein Weg für die heute verkümmerte Menschheit, von dem rein leistungsorientierten Denken abzukehren und unsere Liebesfähigkeit wieder zu entdecken. Ich bin davon überzeigt, dass Bhagwan mittels seiner Meditationen und Therapien uns einen Weg aufzeigt, mit welchem wir unsere Gefühle und unsere Liebe zu den Mitmenschen wieder neu erlernen können (wobei ich unter dieser Liebe nicht einfach den Sex meine). Ich kann mir aufgrund meiner persönlich erlebten Ausstrahlung der Sannyasins in keiner Weise vorstellen, dass Bhagwan unseren Mitmenschen in irgendeiner Weise Schaden zufügen möchte oder könnte. Mit seiner vorbehaltlosen Liebe ist Bhagwan für mich ein Wegbereiter, der die Menschheit von verbrecherischem Verhalten abwenden und vor der Selbstzerstörung retten kann. As a district attorney of Zurich, elected by the voters, I conduct criminal investigation against the white-collar dishonesty that causes immense damage to banks, honest merchants or private individuals by fraudulently using the most complicated economic interdependence of domestic and foreign companies. According to the rules of procedure of court, my task is to lead investigations, to order investigative custody, to force evidence as well as to commit for trial at the first court instance. I am deeply convinced that this work seems to be absolutely necessary to fight and to discourage criminality. In addition to legal training it requires a great amount of personality. There is great danger that an official attorney will become dull with respect to feelings and relations because of his constant dealing with very cunning and mendacious people who turn to criminal acts mostly out of an excessive greed for prestige and luxury. I therefore try not to carry out my work in a mechanical way, but to meet the accused as a human being as far as compatible with my official duties. About two years ago I came to know Bhagwan more closely through the Rajneesh Meditation Center GYANDIP in Zurich. Since that time, I have been attending more or less regularly the meditations and group therapy programs developed by Bhagwan. This has helped me reduce built-up aggression and meet people of different opinions with esteem instead of contempt. Despite my unpopular job I have therefore become popular as a human being, and in most cases neither the accused nor their lawyers turn to complicating my work with different ways of calculated delay in proceedings. Moreover, I realize that my private relations have changed in an utterly positive way since I have learnt through Bhagwan to respect the individual characteristics of my friends and to love them, and since an unexpected joy for life has awakened within me. Participating in the groups led by Bhagwan's followers, I experienced an atmosphere where as an outsider (I am not a sannyasin) I was fully accepted and loved. That loving radiation and joy for life seems, in my opinion, to be a way for contemporary crippled mankind to turn away from its purely goal-oriented way of thinking and to rediscover its potential for love. I am convinced that Bhagwan is showing us - by means of his meditations and therapy programs - a way to learn again how to feel and love our fellow-men in a new way (love not simply meaning sex). The radiance of his sannyasins, which I have personally experienced, makes it impossible for me to imagine that Bhagwan might damage or intend to damage his fellow-men in any respect. Bhagwan, with his unconditional love, is in my opinion a pioneer who is able to turn mankind away from criminal behaviour and to save it from self-destruction. Chr. Wieser, lic.iur. |
