This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Doris Ludwig. It is "Exhibit A-1036" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

To whom it may concern.

As a teacher, graduated for Biology and French at the University of Cologne in 1964, and since 1972 Instructor who is preparing graduated teachers for teaching at German Grammar Schools, I got the chance of staying at Rajneeshpuram for several weeks. I’ve learned that Bhagwan is a spiritual leader of exceptional capacity and international importance, concerned with the development and inner growth of people. I experienced many of his meditation techniques and religious teachings, recorded in books, on tapes or videos, etc., as extremely helpful in the process of education and they had a transformative effect on my work as a supervisor of young teachers during their two years of final studies after passing their University examinations. The effect lies in developing the pupils’ motivation, improving their social awareness or - for example by certain meditation techniques or concentration or awareness exercises - increasing their concentration ability and cognitive memory.

Through Bhagwan's teachings I have succeeded in turning the schools of my supervision area into better, happier and more effective places of learning (where the pupils' personalities have a far better chance to develop at their best than they had before).

As a graduate in Biology I'm also extremely interested in the ecological project that Rajneeshpuram presents. Through the most responsible and conscious dealing with environmental conditions an enormously effective ecological model has come into being that is based on recycling and non-polluting biological methods, so far unique in the world.

It certainly will be the model of the future and it could, as well, be the pride of the U.S. Nation.

Yours sincerely,
