This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society.  Accademia Universale Guglielmo Marconi To whom it may concern : I had the opportunity to know Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh mainly through the commune of Miasto, a Rajneesh Ashram in Italy, located a few hundred metres from my residence, and through some of the written discourses of Bhagwan which have been translated into Italian. Having always been involved in the studies of oriental philosophies and religions, I was deeply touched by the intelligence of this religious Master of our age who is working tn a kind of spiritual alchemy in order to introduce the traditional elements of the hindu-buddhist-taoist religions and philosophies in the structural body of the occident, not denying but rather assimilating its most noble forms of thinking. Although I don’t know the entire doctrine of Rajneeshism and without ever having experienced the meditation techniques I can express most consciously my gratitude towards life for the fact that exists today a religious Master who is helping the human being to find again the roots of his true and profound nature in a world in which totality and dedication to one’s own passions are getting lost. I feel to state all this because I see day after day the quality and totality of the commitment of his disciples living in the commune of Miasto Rajneesh who, in less than three years, have given back life to a place and a piece of earth that had been abandoned and giving back warmth and fruits of which nobody would have thought it was possible.
