This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am a physician, studied from 1968-1976 medicine at the University of Groningen, Holland.

The last year of my study I worked in the therapeutic community for alcohol and drug addiction of the University of Groningen.

After my study I got more experience in respiratory care in the University Hospital of Groningen and in gynecology and obstretics in the Bleuland Hospital in Gouda.

From 1978 - 1980 I was a teacher in clinical neurology on te Academy for physiotherapists "Jan van Essen" in Amsterdam.

From 1982 - 1983 I worked in a research project at the Institute for General Physicians at the Free University of Amsterdam.

As I was interested in psychiatry, but also aware of the limits of it , I was interested in therapeutic communities and came in this way in contact with therapists and therapeutic communities inspired by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and with his meditation technics that are very practical and workable methods for stress-reduction.

I needed this because I worked also with patients with pains without any organic cause, which needed psychosomatic approach.

The last ten years a lot of research is going on on the therapeutic effects of meditation on psychosomatic illnesses ( which includes 70% of the illnesses, also cancer) as is f.e. published in the Magazine "Brain and Mind bulletin" L.A. California, 1982-83 This states the broadening effect that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh 's work and words’ has on the science of medicine and psychology and the art of healing.

I found that also on the field of preventive psychiatry, psychology, psychosomatics, healing and healing methods, personal growth Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s words-and works were of an outstanding clearity and far beyond the limits that exists in this field today.
