This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Erwin Jürgensen. It is "Exhibit A-978" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Dear Sirs,

may I introduce myself:

I was born in May 5th, 1937, in Germany. After the final examinations of the secondary school I studied political economy, management, chemistry, jurisprudence, psychology and pedagogy at the Edmund-Siemers-University in Hamburg, After the completion of my studies I was bestowed with the academic graduate as a Diplom-handelslehrer, which could be regarded as corresponding to a M.A.-degree. Subsequently I was promoted to a senior assistant master at the Federal State of Hesse Police Academy and main coordinator for natural science classes in Hesse, too. Since 1967 I am living in D-3500 Kassel, W .Germany in my residence, and I won’t even consider to emigrate to the U.S.

Surely Bhagwan is an outstanding personality in many fields of arts and science. With regards to my studies I would especially give prominence to his exeptional abilities in psychologic and pedagogic matters. Since among others I took the "est"’-training and the "communication-workshop" (both established by Werner Erhard, San Francisco) I got a short glimpse of what could be possible by consequently following this path. In a way BHagwans teachings also could be compared with the (originally Californian) Eckankar-movement. I think that both W.Erhard and Eckankar are better known in the States than Bhagwan, though Bhagwan is internationally much more better known than e.g. "est" or Eckankar. I got contact to Bhagwan by watching the effect on friends and their work and by taking the "est"-training, and I have found that Bhagwans teachings are by many means the very best of all.

Yours very truly,
