This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Eva Englund. It is "Exhibit A-724" in the Noles collection.

To whom it may concern

Stockholm 20 July 1983

I have been a glassdesigner for 18 years and I work for the world famous glass factory Orrefors in Sweden, fly glass is represented at many of the art museums in the world and I have had exhibitions in many cities in Europe, Australia and the United States, e.g. at Sachs and Blomingdale among others. I have also received an award from the Swedish Government for my glass design.

I have been greatly influenced by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh through his lectures on tapes, his books, videos, courses and meditation techniques. I also follow with great interest and curiosity the experiment that some people inspired by Rajneesh are carrying out in Rajneeshpuram, Oregon. It has impressed and amazed me to see how much has already been achieved there, how this, to all appearance, barren land - through the hard work and caring love that the people put into it - has begun to blossom. To me this is a very positive and powerful example of how man can create a harmonious life by using this unique, intelligent combination of religiousness and scientific knowledge that Rajneesh is the first man in history to give a vision of. Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh's visionary, realistic, humourous and sincere way of talking to me as a whole human being has opened me up to many more parts of myself and to other people. This has directly expanded my creativity and I can say that I now reach more and more people with my glass work.

To me Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is beyond comparison an absolutely extraordinary spiritual leader and religious teacher of tremendous importance to anyone who like me works in the field of arts. It is my sincere wish that he can live in peace in the United States of America.

Yours sincerely,
