This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Filos M. Graf PhD. It is "Exhibit A-137" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

To whom it may concern

I obtained a Ph. D. degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), ZUrich, in biochemistry and microbiology. Since 1977 I am involved in experimental cancer research at the Division of Cancer Research, Institute for Pathology, University of Zurich, studying lytic enzymes, which play a role in tumor invasion (see references). I am member of the International Union against Cancer, and of the European Histochemical Society. Last year I had an invitation to work at the Department of Experimental Surgery of McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

I know Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh from his books, tapes, vieos, through various Rajneesh meditation centers, and by personal contacts during two vistits in Rajneeshpuram, OR.

Bhagwan teaches to look deep into the problems, not to scratch at the surface. Long enough medicine was just used to treat symptoms. For me it is important to find the causes of a disease, Bhagwan encourages me to be total. My work is a challenge for me to see, if it is possible to understand and cure cancer, when Bhagwans outstanding ideas are followed.

It is internationally recognized, that Bhagwan, a spiritual and religious teacher, is a person of exceptional ability in science, and that through his guidance scientific problems, such as cancer, may be solved in the near future.
