This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Dr. Francesco R. Borella. It is "Exhibit A-741" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Dr. Francesco Borella
7 Clos Belmont
CH-1208
Geneva, Switzerland

I am a Swiss medical doctor, trained for 7 years, from 1961 to 1968, at the University of Geneva.

Upon qualifying as a doctor, I became a medical delegate for the International Committee of the Red Cross/Geneva and was in 5 war missions (Yemen twice, Biafra, Cambodia and Vietnam) from 1968 to 1973.

From 1973, I did four years of residency in Pediatrics and Psychiatry, my main interest being Psychosomatic medicine. Thereafter I trained all over the world and practiced in several therapeutic approaches related to my field (hypnosis, bio-energetics and emotional release, bodywork and stress reduction, traditional oriental healing arts and meditation techniques).

By far the most efficient methods in my subsequent work in the University Psychiatric Clinic of Bel-Air, Geneva, as well as in my private practice, have been and currently are the meditation techniques devised by the spiritual master and religious teacher Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. These powerful healing methods masterfully combine the latest techniques of Western psychotherapy and growth movements with the methods and meditations of the Oriental tradition. The long-lasting, in-depth effect of self discovery through these meditations benefits not only the patients but also the medical and nursing staff. And the infinite richness of the process of personal spiritual growth (?)e available to the whole world by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is without comparison.

I consider Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh the greatest living spiritual master, as well as a religious teacher of international renown and exceptional ability.
