This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

Milano, 21 Luglio 1983

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I hold degrees in architecture and graphic design from universities in Switzerland and Germany.

I am a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale, with headquarters in Zurich, and of the American Institute of Graphic Arts in New York.

I consider Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to be an extremely significant religious teacher, certainly the most important living expert on psychology, a great writer and essayist, and undoubtedly one of the most important figures in contemporary culture.

I personally have written a lengthy article on him for the highly regarder Italian magazine Panorama Mese, based in Milan.

I am therefore strongly of the opinion that Bhagwan should absolutely be allowed to remain in the United States.

I have become personally acquainted with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh during my many trips to and lengthy stays in Poona, India.
