This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Dr. Gokul R. Gokani. It is "Exhibit A-190" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I obtained my M.B., B.S. degree in 1963 in India and post graduate diploma in E.N.T. Surgery from the United Kingdom in 1967.

Since 1970, I have been practising as an E.N.T. Consultant Surgeon.

I first encountered Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in 1972 in Bombay, when he was delivering a public lecture on the BHAGWAD GEETA to a crowd of about 65,000. Since then I have read many of his books and listened to tapes of his discourses. The inspiration and teachings of this man have changed my way of life and given depth to an understanding of my patients and their problems, physical as well as psychological. His lecture on "Medicine or Meditation" particularly showed me his insight and depth in this field and helped me to understand and treat my patients better. His understanding of the human mind is unparalleled in the world. Bhagwan also has profound insight into the mechanisms of the unconsciousness and this is extremely important for all medical practitioners.

In my opinion, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is one of the most important moving forces in the field of human psychology today.
