This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Dr. Graham G. Farrant. It is "Exhibit A-883" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is to certify that I, Graham George Farrant, of 57 Erin Street, Richmond, Victoria, Australia, do hereby state that I believe that Bhagwan Rajneesh has exceptional ability in many fields of endeavour especially that of religious teacher and spiritual leader but also to have international renown and exceptional ability in my own particular field of science (medical psychiatry).

Amongst my post graduate qualifications are a Diploma in Psychological Medicine from McGill University, Canada, and a Fellowship in Child Psychiatry from Harvard University, Boston, U.S.A., I also have degrees from London University and the Australian Royal College of Psychiatrists. I have held senior positions in Child Psychiatry in local universities and hospitals and have presented papers at several international conferences.

I have come to know of the work of Bhagwan through his numerous books, tapes and videos and wholeheartedly believe that what he has to say must be recognised as being an outstanding performance well above the standard required for professional competence in my particular field.

Innumerable patients of mine have resolved lifelong difficulties as a result of Bhagwan's work.

Yours sincerely,
[signed]
Graham G. Farrant.
