This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Hans Mangei. It is "Exhibit A-710" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Since 1972 I have been building and designing custom residential homes.

I received my Master's Degree in 1976 from Archigram, School of Architecture and Urban Planning in London. I have worked with Professor Dr. Karl Schwanzer in Vienna in 1975 as a guest architect and, was invited to teach Architectural Design Theory at the University of Vienna. Since 1976 I have my own practice in Laguna Beach and Los Angeles, California.

About 3 years ago I saw a videotape of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. I was very impressed by his teachings and his deep insight, his intelligence and his sense of humor. He is a man with exceptional ability to bring us an understanding of the mystic heritage of the east and combine it with the intelligence of the west.

He has helped me and hundreds of thousands of people to understand the complexity and contradictions of the modern times we live in. I sincerely believe he is a remarkable man in the history of the 20th century - next to Buckminster Fuller and other non-political leaders. He is already an essential part of the free spirit of our country.

Sincerely yours,
