This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society.  Haro Senft To whom it may concern ; Zu meiner Person: ich bin am 27.9.1928 in Budweis geboren, seit 1949 im Eilmbereich tätig und seit 1954- selbständiger Produzent und Regisseur von Kurz-, Dokumentar-, und Spielfilmen« m den letzten 12 Jahren habe ich mich fast ausschließlich der Herstellung von Kinder- und Jugendfilmen gewidmet. Seit über 20 Jahren bin ich auch filmpolitisch tätig und führe auch wissenschaftliche Seminare für das Goethe-Institut in der ganzen Welt durch» Mitte der 70-er Jahre besuchte ich auf einer meiner Asien-Reise auch Poona und den Rajneesh-Ashram. Ich habe mich persönlich wie theoretisch über viele geistige Bewegungen dieser Gegenwart auf allen Kontinenten informiert und verfolge mit größtem Interesse das langsame aber sichtbare Zusammenwachsen der Erkenntnisse von rationaler Naturwissenschaft und - z.T, ältester Mystik, die mir inzwischen als Grundlage eines friedlichen und freiheitlichen Weiterlebens der Menschheit als unerläßlich erscheinen« Shree Rajneesh erscheint mir in dieser Hinsicht einer der hervorragendsten Exponenten der Gegenwart zu sein« Selbst wenn es vielen Menschen derzeit noch nicht möglich sein sollte, seinen religiösen Auftrag zu erkennen, bliebe er doch bei näherer Kenntnis für das rationale Verständnis einer der außerordentlic sten Interpreten von Religionswissenschaft, Psychologie und Gesteswissenschaft unserer Zeit. Diese Behauptung mag allein dE durch für jeden beweisbar werden, daß das Lehren und Wirken Shree Rajneesh's seit jeher einen sichtbaren, kreativen Ausdruc erfährt, über den sich theoretisch nicht mehr streiten läßt. Ich gehöre der Rajneesh-Bewegung nicht an. Diese persönliche. I have taken personal and theoretical interest in many contemporary spiritual movements from every continent. With the greatest interest I am following the slow but visible coming together of the findings of rational science and - partly ancient - mysticism, which seems to me indispensable as the basis for a free and peaceful continuation of human life. In this regard Shree Rajneesh appears to me to be one of the most outstanding exponents of the present day. Even though it may not be possible for many people at this time to acknowledge his religious message, for the rational mind he remains at closer acquaintance one of the most exceptional expounders of our times on religious knowledge, psychology and the Arts. This statement should in itself make it evident to all that the teachings and works of Shree Rajneesh have always carried a markedly creative expression which can no longer be theoretically disputed. I do not belong to the Rajneesh movement. However, this personal choice does not restrict me in appreciating and experiencing the personality and the importance of this living master. (signed) |
