This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Iris Eisen. It is "Exhibit A-945" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. Konstanz, July 20, 1983

To Whom It May Concern,

I am a psychologist and graduated from the University of Konstanz, West Germany in the summer of 1983. For the past year I have been participating in a training course of neo-Reichian massage and bodywork.

Three years previously I read of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in the context of my studies and my psychotherapeutical education. I became astonished regarding his profound professional knowledge in psychology and was very much impressed by his comments on almost every psychological question relevant at the present time. The results of his teachings prove that he is an expert in all existing psychological and psychotherapeutical schools and their work. He has managed to create a very workable synthesis of both eastern and western meditation and growth techniques. He has also made a decisive and unique contribution in particular to the development of modern humanistic psychotherapy on a theoretical as well as practical level.

I traveled to India in order to examine this renewal in the fields of psychology and in January 1983 I completed a scientific thesis on the subject at the university of Konstanz, entitled 'Sannyas - eine Reise ins Unbekannte, eine Humanistische Studei Uber die Entercheidung Sannysin zu werden' (Sannyas - A Journey into the Unknown, a Humanistic study about the decision to Become a Sannyasin).

With many of my colleaques I share the opinion that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh by his extraordinary insight into the human psyche has made an invaluable contribution to the understanding of human development and of the psychological problems in our time. He continues to provide support for a great many people - experts as well as those who seek help.

Sincerely,
[signed]
