This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Jos Geiser. It is "Exhibit A-613" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern

The last ten years I invested my energy into the fields of science and art, trying to find the connection within and between them. Where to go? Was nihilism the conclusion of our search? or existentialism? I could never agree to both. This went on until I felt that there was really no hope to escape from the suffering of self-destruction.

Then - like a lightning out of a white cloud - I found the absolute Yes, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. I felt his incredible love at Rajneeshpuram. He is the human being to lead us out of our crisis. For the first time, I feel the joy for life, for creation. The long struggle for self-destruction has come to an end.

Science is no longer cold mathematics, art is no longer magic to manipulate the demons. Both are reaching to their beauty. I can only touch very little of the beauty of the transformation Bhagwan will bring to this earth. My sponsors (more than a thousand paintings were sold) begin to share my flowering and my joy and daily ask me where this transformation came from. It is beautiful to see so many thankful and happy faces around me.

Rajneeshpuram is an example how life can be lived in its truth, how nature can florish, how society can be creative. My friends and sponsors ask you with deep love to help that this beauty can grow. We thank you for everything you do to let Bhagwan stay in this oasis in Oregon. We on our behalf will do everything to express our thanks for your generosity.
