This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from K. C. Marwick. It is "Exhibit A-804" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Having spent the past twenty two years in the business of agriculture, particularly dry land farming management techniques, agricultural economics, taxation accounting and investment strategies, in relation to Farm Management Foundation of Australia, and Farm Management Service Laboratory at University of West Australia, and C.S.B.P. Pty. Ltd. (Australia), I wish to state here the effects observable from having Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh present in this agricultural community.

The level of co-operation between individuals allowing joint ownership of land, plant, and equipment, has resulted in a new approach to agricultural management in an area unsuitable for traditional production techniques. This co-operation is unique in an industry normally fiercly competitive and difficult to improve.

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh through his presence and his teaching has a direct affect on the workings of individuals living here, so that the usual problems of personel management are not applicable because of the degree to which this experiment has encompassed all aspects of living, social as well as economic.

I have experienced the personal side and the management side of living in Bhagwan’s presence, and since individuals form the basis of this agricultural commune, it is they who allow the development of the new techniques which are leading to a new approach to managing agricultural production and rural living. I have seen and studied many forms of corporate bodies, joint ownerships, partnerships, etc. and I am convinced what Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is offering the U.S.A, and the world is the only viable answer to long term problems that extend beyond the agricultural and business implications.

Yours faithfully,
[signed]
K.C. Marwick
