This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Klaus Gormsen. It is "Exhibit A-1245" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Copenhagen 17 th of july, 1983

Concerning Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh's permission to stay in the United States of America.

My name is Klaus Gormsen. I am a psychologist with a university degree from the University of Copenhagen, ( cand. psych.). I have been working for the past 6 years as a teacher in the area of self-help therapy, and co-founded a center for mutual help in personal development - emotionally and spiritually - in Copenhagen.

I am not a sannyasin (Bhagwan-disciple) and have never been one. My connection to Rajneesh has been giving courses in the Copenhagen Rajneesh center since 1977.

From this connection and the personal contacts with many disciples of Rajneesh, and from reading a great deal of his books, I have come to the conclusion that his contributions to the area of therapy and spiritual development, in which I am working are quite unique, connecting all the various approaches in the field with a comprehensive spiritual vision.

Even though not being a follower of Rajneesh I still consider him to be one of the most important religious teachers on the planet today, and think, that the United States should be proud of giving space to such a rare and unique person.

Kind regards
[signed]
