This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Dr. agr. Klaus Thurner. It is "Exhibit A-1065" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Holding a doctorate in agricultural micro-biology I have been involved since many years in the research about hygienic problems of German milk processing. I am also qualified land scaping ecologist (diplome in agricultural engineering) and was engaged in the planning of the First Bavarian Nature Parc.

During a visit of several agricultural cooperatives in Italy which are experimenting with biological dynamic approaches I also had the possibility to see a community of followers of the Indian Master Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. As ecologist I have always been interested in methods which, in their totality, give more attention to the already existing ressources. I appreciated very much the inventiveness of these disciples of Rajneesh to find new methods how to recycle organic garbage which normally would have been destroyed by burning.

During this visit I also got to know some of the basic teachings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, who commits himself in an excellent way to make his knowledge about the present situation of manhood available to all of us and who makes suggestions for the solution of a world-wide ecological crisis. The American people can be proud that Rajneesh wishes to live and to teach on American territory.

Yours truly
