This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society.  KANTON AARGAU To whom it may concern: To my great regret I have heard that American authorities could not or would not grant Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh a permanent permission to remain in the USA. I only recently found an approach to Bhagwan’s religious movement, but within these few months I realized how much his religious understanding can offer to me. Bhagwan addresses the human being as a whole - human values as openess, tolerance, love, communication and joy for lifedo not remain only abstract teaching, they are being lived. I hope that the wisdom and the spiritual force radiating from Bhagwan' s personality will spread out even more, and I do believe that itwill improve many a thing in the world towards better mutual relationships, towards more tolerance and less war. In the worst case, America can deny Bhagwan to stay on a physical level, but America cannot close herself off against the spirit emanating from Bhagwan. To this effect, to take repressive measures against Bhagwan seems to me to be most unfortunate and contrdicting to what we understand as Americans truly positive values - generosity and tolerance.
